I have windows xp product key but no disc
So I am sort of a computer noob here. I was just wondering if it was possible to get a copy of the windows XP home edition Iso file, I have a product key but It was on a computer that broke. I don't want to download a torrent, I would like an iso file that is untouched. I've been trying to figure this out for two days. This advice is on the edge of forum rules, but since you have a product key I'd just download a torrent.
There are plenty of copies online that are untouched. Reactions: m4a4 and misor. I would not advise torrents. They are a major malware vector. The end result is likely to report as "not -genuine" In the US, sometimes you can find "surplus" copies of software unused at computer shows.
As long as you download an ISO copy of the disc, there are no problems with 'non-geniune' messages etc. I have done this numerous times when I didn't have a disc handy. Sorry nevermind. As I said, this is probably very close to or is a breach of TS rules. Either way, no way would I give you a link to any ISO I find on the web - find it yourself and then we can't get in trouble.
Do you know any one who has a copy of win xp. If so you can use that with your key if your key is legal. Finding a xp Iso. Is going to be very hard. The web site My digital life which is a legal site for Win Iso. Use to have win xp iso for download that were legal. But I would not count on it now. Beings win xp will not be support after next year. If you have a legitimate key, I would also recommend just torrenting an official retail ISO, which is easy to find and you can check the hash to make sure it hasn't been tampered with.
Piracy breaches our rules. This isn't piracy. Maybe it's kind of in a grey area and torrenting is always a controversial topic, but Deery has a legal license to use the software. Hell, if you're that spooked about getting a copy yourself, PM me and I'll find you a copy, download it, double check the hash and transfer it over Skype or something.
It is only reg to those systems and company. It will not work on any computer. The only issue I do have is, even with unattend and putting in the CD key that does come on the computer will not work, even with the proper version of XP.
The key is for pro and the key will not work with the copy I have. I end up running through the online verification every time to authorize it.
Leo, Thanks for clarification on some topics. TXT file. TXT is to allow you to do an unattended installation i. This streamlines and automates installation. TXT is a sample. The installer needs to modify this file and include their unique information, including the product key.
It can be used to set up multiple computers, but is used with a Uniqueness Database File UDF , which contains settings unique for each computer, such as machine name. Just follow these simple steps. Explore the CD and navigate to the i folder. You will find your Windows XP Product key there.

This is a very time consuming thing to do! This information I know to be true! So please in the future if you do not know the answer for people then do not post something that is wrong!
So made recovery disk from my buddy but can only load to were you enter keys please Help Ty Barry. It was fantastic! Both methods should work but my key worked too.! The shop did the last reinstall — could they have used a different Genuine Advantage kit disc? So be warned, copy your activation key and save it somewhere that you can find it later if you need it!! I really need to have this serial code! I only have the disc and not the case it came in that had the serial code on it.
Are you crazy? Its at the bottom of the text file. Whenever I get a disc with a product key, I write the product key on the disk itself with a Sharpie indelible pen. That way if I have the disk, I have the key!!
